EnCore Oil today announced the successful drilling of the pilot hole and 5z horizontal well on Block 42/13 in the United Kingdom North Sea. It has confirmed the ability to successfully drill a horizontal well within the Breagh reservoir and testing should establish the reservoir performance from a horizontal well. Full text

Yttergryta subsea field producing gas four months ahead of schedule

The Yttergryta subsea field has started gas production for the Åsgard field in the Norwegian Sea, only eight months after the plan for development and operation (PDO) was approved. The fast realisation from find to production has been possible because we have good knowledge about the subsurface in the area, and the subsea production facility could be tied back to the existing infrastructure on the Åsgard field. GDF SUEZ and its license partner, First Oil Expro Ltd, has announced a new gas discovery in the Southern Basin sector of the United Kingdom Continental Shelf. The 47/14b-10 “Juliet” well is located to the south of the Amethyst gas field, about 40 km due east of the Humber Estuary. Full text

Jumbo complete Van Gogh heavy lift project for Acergy

The offshore installation contractor for the Van Gogh project, Acergy Australia pty ltd., contracted Jumbo to take care of the transportation of the DTM buoy from Singapore to the Exmouth gulf, delivering subsea equipment to the subsea installation vessel mv Toisa Proteus, and demobilizing equipment. First oil from the Van Gogh field is expected march 2009. Full text

TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company (TGS) announced today that it has begun acquiring a new 8,600-kilometer multi-client survey offshore West Africa, consisting of long offset 2D seismic, gravity, and magnetic data. This regional program ties to the recent Jubilee discovery on the west side of Ghana and extends across shallow and deep water acreage that is not currently under lease. Full text
