Seadrill has today taken delivery of the ultra-deepwater drillship West Capella from Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea in line with the initial construction schedule. The drillship will subsequent to completion of some general mobilization activities relocate to Nigeria in West Africa to commence operations under a five-year contract with Total.

StatoilHydro has signed an agreement with the Colombian oil company Ecopetrol America inc. under which the two companies will form a Joint Exploration Team for the US Gulf of Mexico and drill three or more wells in the coming years. Full text
Badger Explorer ASA has today received confirmation from Shell Technology Norway AS on their signature of the addendum to the partner agreement. Shell, StatoilHydro and ExxonMobil, have committed themselves to provide Badger Explorer with the necessary operational and technical support for the completion of the Badger Explorer prototype. Technip confirms the expansion of its state-of-the-art Angoflex umbilical* manufacturing plant in Lobito, Angola to meet growing demand for longer length and larger diameter products on the West African market. Established in 2002, Angoflex is a joint venture between Technip and the Angolan national oil company Sonangol. Full text
StatoilHydro has successfully completed the full acquisition of the Peregrino heavy-oil field offshore Brazil, after closing the deal to acquire the additional 50% stake from Anadarko. StatoilHydro views Brazil as an attractive and economically stable market and is now well established in the country. Full text
Tom McKechnie of Niche products announced today that Ray Pickens has joined Brad Jeter and Mike Mahaney at Trident Deepwater Solutions. Ray has over 30 years experience in the Subsea Industry, including Drilling and Production Control.
