GDF SUEZ and its license partner, First Oil Expro Ltd, has announced a new gas discovery in the Southern Basin sector of the United Kingdom Continental Shelf. The 47/14b-10 “Juliet” well is located to the south of the Amethyst gas field, about 40 km due east of the Humber Estuary. Full text
Lundin Petroleum has just announced that drilling of the well 2/5-14S with planned side track 2/5-14A located in Block 2/5, PL 006C, in the North Sea sector of the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS), has commenced. The exploration well 2/5-14S is targeting the Hyme prospect while the side track 2/5-14A is an appraisal well on the South East Tor discovery. Full text
Antrim Energy Inc. today announced that a Field Development Plan (FDP) for Phase I of its Northern North Sea property "Causeway". The FDP, which plans production through a subsea tieback to the Dunlin platform is for the eastern area of the Causeway Field only and is the first phase of what is anticipated to be several phases of development of the field. StatoilHydro has received consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to use the semsisub Transocean Searcher to conduct drilling and completion operations on six production wells on the Gjøa field. Full text
Total announces today that its Nigerian subsidiary, Total E&P Nigeria Ltd. (TEPNG), has encountered hydrocarbons in the area within the south-eastern corner of Oil Mining License (OML) 102, offshore south-eastern Nigeria, about 15 kilometres from the Ofon Field, in a water depth of seventy metres. StatoilHydro was today awarded operatorship of a large exploration area in the third Faroese Licensing Round. The area covers 5312 square kilometres, the largest licence ever to be awarded in Faroese waters. No drilling commitments are imposed under the licence, but StatoilHydro will gather seismic on the acreage. It has three to six years to decide whether to drill an exploration well. Full text
StatoilHydro has completed the drilling of an exploration well on the Nucula discovery, which is located around 110 kilometres east-northeast of the Goliat discovery in the Barents Sea. Full text
El Paso Corporation (NYSE: EP) announced today that the Tot exploration well, 1-ESS-185D, located in the ES-5 block offshore Brazil, is a discovery. Through its Brazilian E&P subsidiary, El Paso has a 35 percent working interest in the Petrobras-operated well. The well is located 30 kilometers offshore in 61 meters of water, and was drilled to a total vertical depth of 4,521 meters. Full text
BHP Billiton today announced approval for the North West Shelf Cossack, Wanaea, Lambert, Hermes (CWLH) redevelopment project. The CWLH redevelopment project comprises the replacement of the existing Cossack Pioneer Floating Production Storage and Offtake (FPSO) vessel, selected refurbishment of existing subsea infrastructure and the existing riser turret mooring.
