Petrobras, Shell, and Galp Energia has proved the presence of oil in pre-salt reservoirs, in block BM-S-8, in subsea ultra-deep waters in the Santos Basin, after drilling another well. Preliminary analyses indicate comparable results to that of the other pre-salt oils found in the Santos Basin.

BP today announced an oil discovery in North Sea Block 16/23s, some 230 kilometres north-east of Aberdeen, to be named Kinnoull. BP are now looking into a subsea development with tie back to Andrew Field. Full text

Endeavour International Corporation today said that one exploration well has discovered natural gas in the Jurassic Garn formation at the Galtvort prospect on production license 348 in the Norwegian North Sea. Full text

StatoilHydro has completed the drilling of two appraisal wells at the Tornerose gas discovery in the Barents Sea. No new find was made. The well confirmed the existence of reservoir development in this rock, but no movable hydrocarbons were proven in any of the wells. Full text

Today at OTC, Chevron's Randall Kubota said to subsea industry sources that a FEED study for the subsea development of Jack and St Malo ultra-deep discoveries in the Gulf of Mexico will start in the near future. Kubota is Chevrons subsea general manager. The development concept is not yet determined. Full text

StatoilHydro’s Plan for Development and Operation (PDO) of the Morvin field was approved today, Friday 25 April. This is the first PDO approved in the merged StatoilHydro. The Morvin development concept will include two subsea templates tied in to Åsgard B for processing through a 20-kilometre pipeline. Full text

The well is located in the offshore licence PL293, at a water depth of 373 metres in the Norwegian North Sea, some 165 km West of Bergen. Eni is operator of the project with an equity stake of 45%. Other partners in the project are StatoilHydro (40%) and Idemitsu (15%). Full text
