Tyrihans pumps complete and ready for testing

The subsea raw seawater injection (SRSWI) pumps that will be installed at StatoilHydro's Tyrihans field in the Norwegian Sea, were yesterday transported from Aker Solutions' facility at Tranby to Horten, where they will undergo installation testing over the next month. Once installed, the record-breaking pumps are expected to increase oil production from the Tyrihans field by 10 percent. Full text

M/V Geowave Endeavour Shatters New World Record for 3D Seismic Production

The Geowave Endeavour acquired 4,911 sail kilometers during the month of October while working offshore Libya for BP. Towing a configuration of 10 x 8,000 meter long streamers at 100 meter separation, this translates to 2,456 square kilometers. This is believed to be a new production record for any seismic vessel.

The multiphase team of the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) was awarded StatoilHydro’s research prize yesterday, for its work on multiphase flow and transport. Simulation and modelling of how multiphase compounds behave during transportation are difficult tasks. The possibility of predicting turbulence in liquid flows is still an unsolved problem in applied mathematics today.
